Team levels

At Voltage, athletes are placed into levels—Novice, Intermediate, and Elite—based on age, experience, and current skill level. Our goal is to create the best training environment for every athlete while encouraging growth, confidence, and long-term success.

Assessments are not tryouts. Every athlete who registers will be placed on a team. Assessments help our coaches understand each athlete’s strengths and areas for growth so we can place them in the level and team where they will feel supported, challenged, and set up to succeed.

During assessments, athletes rotate through skill-based stations that may include motions, jumps, tumbling, stunting, and overall coachability. This station-style format allows athletes to demonstrate skills in a low-pressure, positive environment while our coaching staff evaluates safely and fairly.

Final team and level placements are determined by our coaching staff and are designed to support athlete development, safety, and team success for the entire season.

Tiny Sparks Team

Designed for our youngest athletes, Tiny Sparks focuses on confidence, coordination, and cheer fundamentals. Plus the excitement of 2 competitions in a supportive, age-appropriate setting.

Novice and Intermediate Teams

Designed for growing athletes, our Novice and Intermediate teams build strong foundations, sharpen skills, and prepare athletes for performance through structured practices and 4 competitions including one at Knott's.

Elite Team

For athletes with prior cheer experience who are ready to be pushed, our Elite program focuses on advanced training, teamwork, and high-level competition, including Nationals in Las Vegas.
